Tom Brady: The GOAT

Tom Brady holding his 4th Lombardi Trophy
With yesterday's impressive victory over the Seahawks in Superbowl 49, Tom Brady has claimed his 4th Superbowl title tying him with Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw for the most championships by a QB. But more than that, the victory by Brady and the Patriots may have solidified the claim that Tom Brady is the best to ever do it. By the numbers, Brady has more conference championships than any other QB in 6, going 4-2 in Superbowls. John Elway has 5 conference championships but went just 2-3 in Superbowls. Bradshaw went 4-0 in Superbowls, was named Superbowl MVP 2 times, went to 3 Pro Bowls, and was named MVP of the league 1 time, but his career TD to INT ratio of 212 to 210 sort of deflates (no pun intended) his legacy, in my great mind (in comparison, Montana's TD to INT ratio was 273 to 139 and Brady's is 392 to 143) . As a little kid, I always thought that Joe Montana was the greatest QB of all time, and greatest player for that matter, but seeing Peyton Manning and Tom Brady play I always thought that possibly one day one of those two players might eclipse Montana. Manning has had a superb career but I've always believed that you play to win the game and Manning only has 2 conference championship victories and just 1 Superbowl victory to his name. Now, Peyton does have 5 regular season MVP awards to his name (1 more than Montana and Brady combined), more passing TD (the most all-time), and more passing yards (if he comes back next season he will probably eclipse Brett Favre as #1 all-time) which is something to note, but I'm sure he'd trade those MVP trophies and records in for Lombardi Trophies any day. Simply Brady's story of working his way up on the depth chart at Michigan, to being drafted in the 6th round, to jumping Drew Bledsoe is legendary. His fire and competitiveness is like no other and as of today, if I were to start a franchise with any QB, that man would be Tom Brady. Oh yeah, he's got a smoking hot wife too.
